I am in Japan and My Chinese friend is now talking to Americans on Chinese Twitter. She is realizing Americans have a lower quality of life than Chinese (food, health care, safety, access to housing).
They have never learned how to deal with this country with 5000 years history, it is one of the most resilient nation, thus the sanction or bully wouldn’t work and never will be !
Huawei is the best phone ever, I have had my P20 pro for over six years and it still work perfectly.
You can see why US targeted Huawei, can't compete.
The current US foreign policy was codified by an American professor, diplomat and deputy cabinet member, named Paul Wolfowitz. He advocates full spectrum global dominance, playing wack amole with any nation trying to be a global or regional upstart.
This catastrophic policy is behind millions of casaulties in West Asia, North Africa, Yugoslavia, Russia and Ukraine and the 800 military bases around the world. Ironically his recommendations and foreign policy will lead the US to the same fate as the Soviet union: overreaching, overspending and inefficiencies will ruin the Empire of Chaos and lead to military, economical, financial, industrial, cultural, political and societal collapse.
I'm an American, and I'm so thankful that China exists and is doing so well. We need a third super power to help balance things as well. America just doesn't deserve to be the 'global leader' anymore at this point.
I'm an Indian even I'd rather buy a Chinese phone rather than a American tech. Forget it if it's American or not Chinese products are recently providing value for money where as I have no trust in American rechs, cars etc. If it's a car I'd rather go for Japanese models. We are importing garments, and textile materials from China. Even tho India and china have clashes most trades between these countries are bit smooth. ️ Nobody even has respect fpr America anymore. I don't simply want support America that's it.
I'd be glad if many countries stop exchanging transactions in $.
We are selling our human resource for low cost which is a shame.
Many years ago, when I was still in school, there was a teacher who said that, it is not that China cannot make quality products but they make it cheap because that is what people want.
Most US citizens think that Chinese products are just cheap crap. What they don't seem to realise is that's what the big chain stores ask for. The buyers from the big chain stores in the US give the Chinese the lowest possible unit price to make the most profit from their US customers.
If you want quality from China you just have to pay more and you'll get it!
China went through hell for 80yrs and rose like a phoenix. Decades of toil have created a resilient and hardworking generation of chinese people. I think one of the biggest factors for their success is their strong famly values which I find lacking in american societies.
Wouldn't surprise me if Taiwanese chip manufacturers relocated to China rather than the US.
More stable, less chance of being used as a geopolitical and economic pawn and they'll stay at the heart of the action.
China is unstoppable.
We all have our own political views. That's fine. But I feel that we should be realistic.
All these trade wars / real wars are hurting people, which is most of us.
We people, should support countries to work together.
My family emigrated to America 55 years ago to seek freedom from political oppression and work hard to achieve the American dream in the land of plenty. Now the US has become a white supremacist Oligarchical militaristic empire on the decline. Too old and poor to move to China so I will just die here terrified and in despair. We worked, paid taxes, served in the military and voted in elections.
Tariffs are just a national sales tax unequally born by the lower and middle class. We saw this movie when Trump tried it in 2018/2019 - our stock market tanked and the trade deficit with China actually grew.
The Countries With The Most STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering & Math) Graduates in 2016

When that Financial Times article talked about software, they failed to mention that China is also turning into a major power in the video game sector with the success of Black Myth Wukong and Marvel Rivals as well as "gacha" games such as Genshin Impact. Chinese developers are becoming increasingly more confident in making games that are a traditional single purchase AA or AAA game.
Russia and China are facilitating the transition towards a multipolar world dominated by multiple voices, rather than the unipolar world dominated by a single voice (namely that of the US's).
In 2019 I went to China via a government training and we visited the ministry of Commerce in shanghai. I asked the director of commerce, "with the recent tarrifs put on China by America..has that had a negative effect on their economy and investments into Chinam?" He genuinely laughed and said, "actually it has had the exact opposite..while the value of the yuen fell to the US Dollar.. this made China more attractive as now the US Dollar could do much more in China.. thus investors were opting for China as it became cheaper to do business there. With BRICS...China is good. I actually prefer being in China than being in the US for some odd reason.
Tariffs only work on weak and unstable countries that heavily rely on US goods and services. Otherwise, it's useless, like when Russia was hit by the entire NATO might of Tariffs just to adapt and grow military wise.
What makes more sense would be to clean the house from within, cooperation with China business wise in a fair matter that benefits both parties to help the world, and stop using investments in other countries just to get involved into things they have no business getting involved in.
The world has become a board game in which:
USA is playing Checkers, thinking 1 move ahead.
Russia is playing Chess, thinking 5 moves ahead.
China is playing Go (Weiqi 围棋), thinking 10 moves ahead.
The frequent transitions of the presidency every four years critically undermine long-term growth. For true and sustained progress, a country must prioritize stability in leadership.
In 1900 the British Empire was at its peak. It was also so very close to its end. I think America is in the same position now. And like the britsh once did, America thinks that God only loves them. The humbling of America has begun.
Mathematics and science flourished in Asia when the silk road still existed. Europe only stayed relevant in history because of the trade of knowledge and technology via the Silk Road from the east of the old world and by chance, rediscovering the texts from philosophers like Plato and Aristotle locked away in a church archive. Now, here in the present Europe is still only relevant due to the technological innovations of Asia. And the US is just the US. Never really created much, and anything that was created in the US was either from German scientists or African Americans whose names are never spoken of because of the color of their skin. We are just seeing history repeat itself, but in a somewhat different way, but maybe with a far different outcome. Hopefully, it's one that breaks the cycle of human greed and stupidity.
As the intelligent people always say that you must never underestimate the China' s 'The Great Fire Wall'. If you think, China is doomed for a second, you shouldn't think that socialism get strucked but you should think that they maybe testing another future generation technology where they can be succeed/failed but don't care. But you're still doing your generational improvement of technology/strategy & thinking you'll surpass them. It's not Indian mind, it's the Great Wall of China🇨🇳
“The Chinese word for 'crisis' (危机) contains both 'danger' (危) and 'opportunity' (机), reflecting a unique perspective that sees potential opportunities within danger.”
They had been through this before.
No one won everything but certainly one suffered very badly and had to bail out its farmers while the other one had to painfully work on diversifying trade partners and learn to make things it doesn't have.
Good luck to the unprepared one.
Shows just how limited is his mentality, to even consider tariff as the most beautiful word in the dictionary.
I saw a street interview in a part of Europe country. When the locals said, that if their people were to say or doing something "silly," they would be asked, "are you American?"
Uncomplimentary.
Arrogance is the worst human failure, USA arrogance is hurting them big time, and the world has been looking for a way out to avoid USA arrogance and is now reality
well said: China is not competing with USA, but among its own local companies in the 10 most critical new tech. Hope to see the new "sun" energy to benefit the world (no more mining)
No matter how anyone is trying to justify our present “ situation “, the truth of the matter is,that we as a dominant country are done with!
We reigned the world for about 150 years till now and we managed to be the most unpopular/ mistrusted/untrustworthy empire ever. Well.. everything has an end and ours , undoubtedly is approaching irreversibly!
Can’t they just make peace with each other and work for everyone in the world and the planet instead? If those superpowers unite, the rest will follow towards peace as well.
Every country in the world wants to avoid being dependent of the US… Im from Norway 🇳🇴 We don’t import much.. and we CAN do without the rest.. We used to bye alot of Tesla, that is rapidly declining
I hate that US dont care about Its people, they are paying the price..
The problem of the US started with its education system. It used to be the country where the greatest minds come from and where the rest of the world's students dream of attending. Many foreigners were able to attend the best schools in the US, many of them are Chinese, and they learned. They went back home and used what they learned; contributing to the development of the country, particularly in education so that progress and innovation can be brewed at home. Meanwhile in the US, education system deteriorated to the point where the focus became LGBTQ rights, standardized testing and no child left behind, banning of books, individual rights vs accountability, parents' control over teachers and the school. So students did not progress to the level of their foreign counterparts. How could they, when in other countries students must dedicate their entire day to learning? In the US this is ridiculed as child abuse. At the end of the day, students in China, Korea, Japan, etc. are able to contribute to the technological advancement of the country through creative, critical and innovative thinking. While in the US college students learned to protest about various rights, from gay rights to Palestine. Upon leaving college, they become Karens complaining about everything because that was what they learned; shouting for rights and equality on various issues.
What never ceases to amaze me is the abrupt 180 degree turns of US politicians such as Rubio. They appear devoid of principle or conviction, prepared to say whatever serves their interests at a given moment, however contradictory with their previous pronouncements.
China 🇨🇳 is a force not to be reckoned with if you think bullying them like we bully the rest of the world will never work with china,
Russia and
Iran 🇮🇷 who all have balls of steel !!
For all the United States' bold claims, they still haven't figured out how to make a hypersonic missile. Miltarily, Russia is way ahead of the field. Moreover, across the board, Chinese students typically score high percentage marks in science and technology. China also has a huge manufacturing base, as compared with the U.S. which looks as if it's regressing back to the Stone Age. Add to this all-but one ice-breaker to contend with Russia's explorations in the Arctic. Take away the usurious dollar and America's military might, and they don't look so great from where I'm sitting
When Trump launched his Trade War against China in 2018, China’s trade surplus was RMB2. 33 trillion, or US$321 billion at current exchange rate. But China’s trade surplus hit a record high in 2024 — reaching a symbolically significant US$1 trillion! That is a threefold increase in just over a 6 years period.
The fact speaks for itself.
must be fun to be an educated young chinese. the feeling of shaping the future and significantly improving life circumstances in china for themselves, their families and china as a whole.
AMERICA NEEDS TO LEARN TO WORK WITH COUNTRIES AND NOT SEE EVERYONE AS ENEMIES,SIMPLE. IMAGINE HAVING NO FRIENDS,HOW DO YOU GET ON IN THE WORLD,YOU SOON COME UP SHORT.
I wonder if David Sax actually realizes what he's saying. If China is getting more out of older Chips by improving efficiency, then obviously that would mean that the Chinese code would perform even better on the newer generation of AI processors. So essentially the sanction on the newer generation of Chips has actually helped Chinese programmers to innovate towards more efficient coding.
There's not much one can say about Sam Altman, only he probably needed a change of underwear when DeepSeek popped out of nowhere.
Trump did not got his name 川建国 for no reason, he provided Chinese a protective wall from US suppliers, for China to build indigenous semiconductor manufacturing, Thank you Trump, China best convert agent to help China regain historical standing in world pinnacle
Tariffs are fine with me if they are used sparingly to protect employment and industry in certain sectors at home, and you might be able to use them as leverage against small countries that rely heavily on certain markets but trying to use them to hold back economic coopetitors like China is futile and actually makes them stronger, the same way trying to cripple Russia with sanctions has made Russia stronger and more resilient to the West's use of economic warfare .
Tariffs can replace taxes?
Maybe 60 or 70 years ago when the government was smaller, spent less, and the dollar's purchasing power wasn't a tenth of what it is today.
Trump's economic policy is gonna kill this country in the end. I expect four more years of higher prices and no cheap gas.
I’m from Malaysia, our leader did the same on our Cars which is tariff in the 80s, our cars became so expensive until today yet our national car project failed
Hey Cyrus, I've been watching your video back and forth for about a year. Just wanna say, thanks for being a rational voice in introducing China to the rest of the world. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to more excellent videos like this one!
At 3.12, Trump alleged that he will use tariff revenue to reduce income tax and won a round of applause. In a progressive taxation regime (ie. taxpayers with higher income pay a higher marginal tax rate), reduction in income tax rate benefits rich people more. Tariffs is a tax paid by all those who need the import goods. In fact, he shrewdly reduces tax of rich men and shifts the tax burden to an average American who now pays more due to tariff driven inflation. Be mindful that 0.01% of the US population own 23% of wealth in America. Hence, the richer will become richer while the poor will become poorer under Trump's administration. Social unrest is likely to follow.
U.S. policies often backfire, like with China. But it’s baffling how much focus and resources go toward supporting Israel, a state with a controversial record, instead of promoting global peace and stability
If China was as good as talking as the US gov and media are, they would be 10 times more successful, meanwhile, China is just cruising along and minding their own business
The old Chinese market model was following the globally established markets and leaders, dominated by the west. Chinese were fine with following it with western tech and products. Since tarriffs and sanctions took place China was forced to develop domestically, invest in R&D and innovate instead. That has then caused China to develop something even better than western products and completely removed any dependency from the supply equation. Now China leads the world in Science and nearly all of technology. This was a fatal mistake of the west. It wasn't because China couldn't do it themselves, it was more about convenience to go with the current global market. A bad bad mistake from the empire, pretty racist to underestimate Chinese people to think they couldn't do it themselves. Chinese wrte comfortable not taking lead but now they have to, from manufacturing to innovation.
Proverbs 11:2
“When pride comes,
then comes shame.”
Proverb 18:12
“Humility, not pride,
comes before honor.”
Proverbs16:18
“Pride goes before destruction,
and haughtiness before a fall.”
As one of the leading Chinese official said yesterday, China wants to cooperate with the US for the benefit of all. The sooner the US know this, the better for the world.
I've been to china you have no idea the scale there on, cities the size of LA with the population to match that you've never heard of... They also love Americans as long as you respect them and their culture
People need to live together as friends and neighbors, not as enemies, we have enough resources for everyone, but we need to stop being greedy and learn to share instead of threats and being control freaks. Wish the best for all nations.
Can’t lie these videos are great.
I never been a foreign policy news watcher but you make it digestible, full of undeniable facts, relate it back to current and previous historical policies, and just allow the facts to do all the heavy lifting. preeeesh
In addition to this, his tariffs on countries that used to be friends with the United States, such as Canada and Mexico, have had them exploring options to conduct more trade with both Europe and China, which they otherwise would have done with the USA.
I’ve checked out Nomad Capitalist and watched their videos and they are interesting to watch but unfortunately, you have to be rich to work with Nomad Capitalist. I’m just an average American who can barely afford everyday life.
Seems like the whole world has done a complete U Turn on China . I personally avoided Chinese products until recently but now I buy a lot of Chinese products because of the quality and value for money. You see this trend in the country I currently live in (Australia) and where I’m originally from (Sri Lanka).. Well done China.. 🇨🇳
"The advanced chips" production is the last hope USA has. China can do exactly everything but still the Americans think that it is impossible for them to ever produce high end chips.
Sam Altman was born on April 22, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois, into a Jewish family, and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. His mother is a dermatologist, while his father was a real estate broker
I Hit $32,590 today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last week. i started with 5k in last week
2025... now i just hit $32,590
India got it worse than Taiwan. Jaishanker spent a whole month in USA parked near Trump, trying to get an invite for Modi to Trump's inauguration but failed. What a loss of face and indian pride . Instead, he met with Rubio and got a lecture from him. And Rubio cut off Russian oil for India, what a tight slap, ouch !!
You've done a great job of summareizing China's success in the technology race. Unfortunately for Trump, he is on the wrong trajectory with tariffs to win the geopoliical battle the US faces in the world. His biggest threat is the BRICS where the US is the outsider looking in as the global south gets some teeth in world affairs. BRICS GDP is twice to three times greater percentage wise than the US and they control the dominant share of the energy and mineral wealth of the world.
Technology is innovation driven, whether by the US or China or anyone else. It comes from unexpected sources often and puts high risk in high valuations like we saw with semiconductors and more recently with AI. In all the fundamental sectors of science and technology, China is leading or near equal to the US and with time, China WILL be the leader. Biden destroyed the US semiconductor sector and Trump's tariffs will destroy US EV and AI sectors. What we are witnessing is the hollowing out of the US in technology as it spends more on war than on peace, The US domestic agenda is in serious decline and inflation is the foregone conculsion as Trump's tariffs take effect.
Government is NOT a business.
Billionaires build wealth. Governments look after their people.
The 2 outcomes are not compatible.
Growth is good.
Unlimited growth is unsustainable and destructive. We need socialism, not unfettered greed.
These safety comments makes sense for any country to be adopted. Tanks are not for civilian roads with that kind of mass and speed, dangerous for its own driver and others. Thanks for raising this important issue.
There's a lot of doom and gloom here. Tariffs are just self-imposed sanctions, to avoid globalism.
So in effect, we're in the same boat as Russia. Can't rely on globalization, so we must rely on local brands. Yes, it's expensive, but that doesn't mean our economy collapses.
Americans need to understand the collapse of Qing Dynasty.
Honestly, it is scary for me to see how hardworking and competitive the Chinese kids are whom I know their parents and families. Their parents are tiger dads or tiger moms. I have a child currently pursuing his engineering degree in one of US national top 3 colleges. I have a second child who is working hard to get there now. I am a Chinese parent from an ASEAN country and my parents raised me to focus on school academic. Frankly the Chinese kids in the U.S. whose parents were from China are really the toughest competitors here (coz my kids are competing with them at school). I really can’t imagine how many more times tougher to compete with the Chinese kids in China.
Trump only has 4 years so definitely short term negotiations. However, after 8 years, China position & they are well prepared for Trump 2.0 . So Trump doesn’t have much cards in hands to better deal . Maybe be still can negotiate for few for their own interests but not much for the country
Tariffs to China Since his previous 4 years in office .
Now ,
Canada ,Mexico and Neighbor are on entity list to pay 10 to 30 pct tariff entering U.S .
Make him Great Again !
If tariff is good for the US, why stopped at 10%? Trump should make it 1000%. If you are poor and voted for Trump, you will be struggling soon because of high prices.
But the US is planning to construct the BIGGEST and BEST resort ever imagined in Gaza! It will have incredible Trump casinos and hotels and will be absolutely unbelievable! And I ask, are we WINNING yet?
It is always such a joy to watch your very informative videos about what is happening in the world, and especially in China. A fabulous country in so many ways that deserves much more respect then it gets in our western media. But that won't stop the China and rightfully so. Credit where credit is due and I take my hat off for all the accomplishments China has achieved over the years. And there is so much more to come of which I am sure you will inform the world about. Thanks and keep up the good work!
If American politicians focused more on opportunities than fear, our country would be more productive in the high-tech sector. Great, and informative videos.
What about Wuzhou, Guangxi? A city with a population larger than many European capitals, yet frozen in time—just an hour from the modern powerhouses of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Ibnu Khaldun already said this few hundred years ago. Ronald Reagan quoted his quotes many times during budget "At the beginning of a dynasty, taxation yields a large revenue from small assessment. At the end of a dynasty, taxation yields a small revenue from large assessment’
Key word here is Efficiency. Back in the days of Hardware and Software design, it was a driving force to make sure we developed circuitry and software as efficient as possible. With the advent of cheap memory and storage, engineers in the US have gotten lazy and away from efficiency for the sake of programming faster and delivering sooner. Coming from the old guard myself, I was appalled to see many software engineers in the US trying to appear witty and fast when all they were doing was adding more code than necessary, Now China is exploiting that weakness. I'm glad to see this coming back to bite them in the ass. This also goes hand in hand with the senseless strategies to cut cost and time that some CEOs get drunk on without a full understanding of what they are doing.
Another negative impact of these tariffs can be seen in the Huawei ban. Huawei was the biggest competitor to Samsung and Apple. By removing that competition, these companies no longer needed to innovate or price their products competitively. In the end, Huawei survived, but consumers lost. As someone from a developing country on the other side of the world, I can see how these tariffs and sanctions affect us too. So please, Americans, do better.
As a Panamanian I wanted to move out of my country for the longest time thanks to the general sentiment of Latino youths that they want to run away from Latin America, and since I am half-American and have my own American passport and SSN, I thought it would be the obvious move to go to the U.S some day! As time went on though, I realized that here in Panama I actually have better healthcare, cheaper prices on almost everything, the opportunity to buy a house is still a thing, allbeit VERY difficult, at least it can still be done by a lower class person like me unlike in the U.S where earning three times the minimum wage isn't enough to rent an apartment in most places, and for as ignorant as some people here are, they aren't on the level of your average ignorant American, and also there's no movement here demanding us to become a Nazi ethnostate or tech Oligarchs taking over the government, Government's still corrupt and any improvements ar emade at a snail's pace but, seeing the alternative? I think I am genuinely better off staying here... if I ever do end up moving out of my country I'll probably move to Germany, Canada or the U.K... it's kinda funny that like, when you grow up outaide the U.S and in a country that doesn't speak English, the ability to speak English is treated as a gift that will help you score jobs in the future and it's like this great thing and like, that will probably still be the case in the future to some extent because Brittish people and other countries that speak english will continue to exist but, growing up it was mainly because of the U.S that they said that stuff about English, and yet now that I'm older I'm seeing more and more people learning Chinese and other languages
Wow I didn't know that Nomad Capitalist were sponsoring you. I'm not a client, but I work with them as a banking partner in certain geographies and they are great! Shoutout to Nomad Capitalist and Andrew Henderson!
As for the content of the video, this really brings me back when Trump banned Huawei and Google stopped offering Android to Huawei phones - and China developed it's best OS to date (the HarmonyOS) which disrupted Apple and Google's share percentages in the OS market.
The US keeps putting China in a position of necessity - which in the long run is going to be good for the world I guess - but I wonder why they keep shooting themselves in the feet like that.
Well, with quite a lot of points you made, I see correlation but not certainly causation. However, even though you did seem biased against Trump at first, you did give him his dues when he deserved them. Subscribed!
Cyrys, one thing for you to remember is that Nomad Capitalist is above all an organizations providing services to global tax evaders ( = guiding them and showing the route to tax havens), we face many challenges in the present world (climate change, wars, global instability on financial markets etc etc ) and it does not become better with tax havens like Bahamas, Mauritius, Mauritius, Seychelles, UAE, Jersey etc etc
The US would love to have Canada annexed as the 21st state, but they have 10 provinces and 3 territories. That means that the US would have to annex 10, possibly 13 new states. Perhaps as a single state, this works better for Orange Man and his ilk!
One of the big problems with the US is that the US big corporations squander the tariffs to focus more on profiteering than innovate to build better products. Great example is the made in U.S. foreign brands vs us local brands for car manufacturing. In addition the us politicians are controlled by the lobbyists who who represent big corporations and do corporate bailouts instead of allowing free market to benefit those companies that create the best products.
The reason Trump has billionaires on his side is because the delay of technological advance is what earns the top a lot of money.
The tech billionaires don't WANT technology to advance too fast. This is why you're still paying top dollar for tech that seemingly is standing still.
This war is about defending capitalism (earning cash through stagnation).
Don't treat and bully everyone as if they are stupid and dependent on us, when in fact, they are wise but humble. China is a great country and made many in the US a billionaire.
and if Trump kept on his "talk big and walk back" game like his tariff "sparring" session with Mexico and Canada recently, the world would started to think the US is a toothless tiger, all bark no bite, and this would further hurt the US reputation, credibility and soft power, this is bad.
In my experience Alibaba's qwen 2.5 seems to be the best overall AI but still like the fun but tricky DeepSeek AI as it thinks loudly before answering which means it gets extra time for the actual response (the trick).
Not only did Trump's tariffs and threats backfire in the technological sense, but they create hard feelings and distrust that will prevent future agreements in our country's favor.
I've been following the US politics for the past 5 years and one thing that always caught my attention is the fact how easy it is to trick the general population of the US . The amount of people that applause these types of nerve wrecking claims made me realize that there's something seriously wrong with the US Education System .They are either extremely unintelligent or they simply don't care .
Rubio's admission truly caught me off by surprise. He spoke truth to what many of us have known for quite some time. But lets wait and judge them by their actions.
I'm new to your channel and slowly de-programming myself from all the misinformation I've been fed about China throughout my life, and from channels like Peter Ziehan
"necessity has been the mother of invention for them"
This is exactly why sanctions have never worked with Russia. All we did was push them closer with everyone else that doesn't trust us.
It’s not that China makes cheap goods, it’s that America companies have gotten so greedy that WE are over charging for our goods. Y’all heard of shrinkflation? Just look at the cost of manufacturing American goods and compare it to the selling price
US targeting Chinese EV’s with Tariffs, is due to the fact that BYD and others make a superior EV with a much lower price point. Europe and other countries are benefiting from these superior products
There are Philosophies', One Long Game, the Other Short Game. The U.S has always been a child seeking instant gratification where as some nations think in terms of Dominance.
NOTE: You mentioned China's satellites achieved 100 Gbps but referred to it as "Gigabytes per second." It's actually Gigabits per second.
Divide 100 Gigabits (Gbps) by 8 and you arrive at 12.5 Gigabytes per second. (Gb/s)
Still very fast though!
Tariffs create an exchange rate appreciation. Normally China currency would appreciate till trade values are balanced but China is running a Mercantilist economy , by keeping exchange rates artificially low. Originally greedy Wall St indulged in this behaviour But now this game is gutting the whole of US society.
Thanks for this great video Cyrus nice overview of the tech shift.
China also has the US by the supply chains. No maga without China's resources.
Interestingly, what you are discussing today was part of normal discussions in Canadian and US Boardrooms 20 years ago, yet nothing seems to have been done to help the West level the playingfield. We could have been investing in innovation, education and many other things, yet here we are about to drive off the cliff with no plan in place.
I think it’s easy to burden shift this to leaders but to me this looks symptomatic of decades of America eating a free lunch regardless of how good the decisions were
When your enemy is making cheap stuff you, you keep it that way. You don’t force him to go into being some sufficient or into high tech … that’s why people in China love him
AS A SOUTH AFRICAN I AM WELL AWARE THAT IT IS TRADE TREATIES THAT ARE HOLDING US BACK FROM DEVELOPING AND INDUSTRIALISING , SO AS A SOUTH AFRICAN I WELCOME ANY SANCTIONS FROM TRUMP
Want to know the reason and only reason why China rises so fast is that China is not involved in any war.
Every bullet fired and or every missile fired is money going down the drain. Imagine and do the math how many miles of road can be resurfaced with those money.
What a success, the renminbi is declining even though the central bank (bcp) has intervened several times, hundreds of companies have gone bankrupt and millions have lost their jobs.
Import Tariffs protect the development of local industry for the less competitive / developed players. Look what it did for China. Now US get to catch up.
one thing to note is that I think with the flip of a coin it's very possible that Canada and China can become major allies as the connection is already there; and this might actually be in part of why trump has been targeting Canada much more than last
I knew it, we may have a several millions of smart Asian ppl, but they have over a billion. That’s why they’re winning and achieving their goals in advancement.
USA wasted its resources and funds for years to prevent China advancement instead of making itself better than China whereas China took the USA imposed Sanctions to work harder to be self sufficient and increase its expertise.
USA and its leadership especially Trump has still not learnt this lesson resulting in China becoming not only self-sufficient but a major exporter in many spheres and sectors. India has learnt this and is also on the way to be self-sufficient in sectors and spheres where it is dependent on foreign sources.
WILL USA LEARN OR CONTINUE TO LIVE WITH SUPERIORITY COMPLEX - WAIT AND SEE
Bless all
The West does not have a monopoly on laws of Maxwell, Newton, or Einstein, or creativity and engineering. Right now China is way more competitive internally than the West. It's a good thing they still have a government that can provide some kind of safety net for those who lose out in the cut-throat competitions or continue to fight to alleviate the poor. Food, housing, energy, education, medical care, transportation, defense; the base level of what a government is supposed to do for its people. The US seems to have forgotten these basic tenets except the military.... but even then it less about defense but more to do with death merchants and US hegemony.
Cyrus you are DEEP... this is a lot and I'm not even halfway through! I hope you're keeping well my bro - Dubai didn't work out for me btw, I'm back in the UK.
Lets just say it was too much for me.
Tarrifs wont do much to stop CHINA from Becoming the Steady world leader in everything..but now CHINA does not even need U.S for them to achieve thier goals..They have everything the U.S needs...CHINA has the KNOWHOW , TECHNOLOGY and everything they can MAKE IT and they Make it even BETTER...aay Better..
In fact, the Chinese have always been happy to develop in this US-dominated world. However, if the United States is unwilling to let China develop, then China may decide to change the rules and dominate the world.
Be careful being arrogant. You will be surprised who can surpass you. The biggest shock is gonna come from Africa. You will be extremely shocked. Stop underestimating ppl. Your accomplishments are achievable by all n every continent is gifted
The thumbnail shows the map of the PRC. In case people wonder why the map of PRC is so much smaller than the map of the ROC, here is the reason:

Ha, this is such a good video, I remember somewhere reading about five years ago, some legend saying the best thing secondary and even primary students can do in schools is to start learning Chinese for the future. This was about five or maybe ten years ago, how true is for it to come now.
We don't have chance against China. America is corporate welfare. Greedy corporations pays only 10% all collected taxes. 37T dept, middle class is supposed to pay off.
He should have said “tariffing importers to fill the government’s coffer”. That’s what basically happened from tariffs. It’s is indirectly milking money out of Americans.
Just think, because of the way the US has been behaving, CANADA has made an agreement with China to sell them crude oil. China has stated that they are interested in ALL of Canadian oil. this means the US has to find another source for crude oil.
Where USA is failing in their "Containment of China in 2025, India jumped in back in 2000 providing China the 2 quiet decades of penetration into the coveted (but totally ignored) monopoly of becoming the World leader in the field of "Supply Chain Management " of the Globe
China is still growing and it's population still wants to become educated. Britain in the 19th century was like that there were thousands of public libraries built during that time. America had its chance too from the 40s to the 80s. The love of money took over. China, which has quite a large population incidentally, still has years of growing to go. Hundreds of millions of Chinese are better educated and paid than the Americans. All that in 50 years.
This is what happens when you turn something into nothing.
There are alot of things you can say about China, but they are resilient and they have a plan for most everything.
You earned my sub, I like your independent voice and content. I would rather listen to a handful of real voices like you than the packaged media that is always pushing a narrative instead of facts
What if tariffs simply discourage Americas from buying expensive imports from the biggest adversaries economies promoting the the consumption of American made alternatives strengthening US industries and economy?
I don’t understand Sam Altman’s arrogant comment. Most of ChatGPT’s engineers are on H1B visa from either China or India. Chinese and Indians are literally building its AI models. So yeah, India and China will try and win. Sam Altman will have to eat some humble pie.
I went to Drexel University, which is just down Broad St. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business (That's the school Donald Chump went to if you didn't know). They must use a different dictionary down there because everybody who went to my school knows that a tariff is the stick that a government uses to control its own citizens' consumer behavior (If you know how to read, you can go look it up for yourself). The import tax called a tariff is passed on to the import consumer dumb enough to buy the import. I guess you guys at Wharton must have been dropped on your heads as babies while your dads were cutting checks to buy you a spot at your school. Sad. Very sad.
The fatal mistake the US made was embracing a backward practice of enriching owners at the expense of workers and business infrastructure: it became about profits, and neglected production. We see it in the healthcare sector as well as others. Reagans tax cuts were the beginning of our end; and every Administration since has continued and doubled down on this maladaptive strategy- trickle down economics. No, one doesnt grow an economy by enriching owners. It grows an economy by investing in workers and the business, consumers.
Well said. Again as stated before, no one in Washington understand what's going in China right now. Just got back from China.
1. China has established the most efficient and cost-effective distribution network. One can place as low as 3 RMB (US 0.45) order for anything and it will get delivered next day. The quality is good. The vegetable and fruit are all fresh and backed by 100% money back guarantee. This means China’s manufacturing industry will continue to grow without US orders.
2. Thanks to the isolation policy implemented by Washington, US already become less important/attractive among many people I met. They decided not to send their children to study in US.
3. Not sure if Washington really thinks this 35% tariff will help US-based companies start making TV, microwave oven, toaster, vacuum machine, and more. Or, just make things more expensive and lower living standard of average American people. Why can’t we take advantage of the same $0.20-pair cotton socks that costs $5.00 in US? For freedom and democracy?
4. As stated before, US is quickly losing its global power and dominance. This will happen before we realize it. Who is responsible for this? “Cheap Chinese products”? It’s easy to fix blame.
I'm not a US citizen, but isn't it obvious with his motto or vision or whatever you call it, "Make America Great Again" is a phrase of someone who is living in the past? "Again", isn't it obvious What type of leader pushes an "Again" agenda and people vote for him?
The world has become a board game in which:
USA is playing Checkers, thinking 1 move ahead.
Russia is playing Chess, thinking 5 moves ahead.
China is playing Go (Weiqi 围棋), thinking 10 moves ahead. Voodoo in business, making a $349Bn customer a competitor
You are very smart. Just saw your video with max. I only became aware of chinas visionary dominance in January! planning a move to china within the next year. US and the west are third world stuck in 1984. So impresssed by chinas prices and standard of living.
What can I say? I own a Chinese smartphone and it's the most reliable and failure-free gear I have EVER had. It has worked perfectly for three years (and still does) with no single error. Unbelievably well designed and made.
I always laugh at expensive, shitty iphones. Other brands (not even necessarily Chinese) are better. No wonder Chinese are better in everything than Americans.
South Africa was similar, when the world had stopped al limports into the country, they made everything. As soon as they lifted the bans, they started to import and industry went down hill. Instead of becoming more advanced, and manufacturing cheaper, US decides to just put tarrifs on. This will never work, I don't think manyt people have stripped a modern American made car to look at all the parts made outside the USA... Ther ehole "make it local" is a 20 year gap from decision to cost effective output!
7:21 THAT SMIRK THAT GUY HAD SAYS IT ALL!! SAM ALTMAN IS GOING TO REGRET SAYING THAT! WHO EVER THAT GUY IS ID INVEST IN HIS COMPANY NOW!! Be careful whom you offend everyone is not impulsive and will just try to attack you!
When US ignored Taiwan and China will takeover Taiwan, China will rally Asian countries next together and may lead to East VS West. Oceania, EMEA and Middle East may choose a side.
What I don't understand is y Indian audience still applauded Altman, after the response. Anyway remember years ago when spoke of BYD they will never catch up.
Oversimplification. India has been a country with very similar characteristics, an even more well-educated English population and good at software. By the way, the question is, can China replace the USA? My answer is No. They have serious fundamental issues economically, technologically and culturally. I have very good Chinese and Russian friends, but these factors are also real.
I hope this Causes Canada the let in more stuff from China ,BYD cars would be awesome and affordable,i love my Oppo Find N fold phone and many other thing that we dont make
If you put tariff on everyone and everyone put tariff on just you , who do you think will suffer the most
You think all those countries will just sit back and let you do whatever you want
What a delusion
You said that competition spurs innovation, except that’s not the story of DeepSeek. It’s not to say that competition is a non factor, but the real motivator with these Chinese AI is far more the consequence of necessity rather than competition.
Competition does spur innovation though it has one drawback that is extremely consequential. That is the secret keeping, the non sharing of insights. This is actually a tremendous hinderance to progress because people learning from each other is extremely limited. Having said that, innovation does still occur in this environment. I just have to wonder how different/ better technological innovation would be if everyone shared their development secrets and breakthroughs.
We need to celebrate when another country is advancing. Greed ,jealousy n control is not healthy. People worry about who leads,Those who lead in a long run they are always full of pride n pride leads to downfall.May God bless the humble country's in Jesus name.
Well we all know just how intelligent Trump is...Not! What did anyone who voted for him expect. The only sad thing is the rest of the world now needs to put up with him and his ego.
tariff is great for trump so he can collected more tax from US citizens than he can give back a little for personal tax , Americans will support new high record
The US and their preemptive strikes is the equivalent of those blocking the silk road.
Which resulted in the Age of Exploration. In China's case innovation.
Nomad Capitalist is for the wealthy to remain wealthy. It's likely that only a single digit of the american population would qualify and get any benefit from this service.
03:21, he knows that doesn't make any sense but, most Americans don't. 07:24, Americans - the West - have no historical perspective, the exact same words that they are now speaking of China were spoken about South Korea and Japan. Thinking - out loud to myself about the West - do you really think these countries with their - initial - low quality manufactured goods, aren't going to continue to grow, learn and evolve and one day produce vastly superior products than you? Why have they surpassed the Americans, they are culturally superior, they have what it takes to dominate through meritocracy, the USA can't calm this title. The Dollar as the reserve currency, total control over the Swift System, IMF, World Bank, Sanctions and a Military to enforce all of this but, China won!
10:40 it was 12.5GB/sec (that's 100Gbps) - the capitalized b matters. 100GBps and 100Gbps are very different.
(It was Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co. (as opposed to "the Chinese" - we say "Starlink" rather than "the Americans", after all); also noteworthy is that it was satellite-to-ground rather than sat-to-sat).
"The rogue states we have to deal with."
Nah, I want to know about the 1st - 2nd world countries I never see in the news who are just building up their countries to be safer & better places to live.
That AI talent probably went to US universities and probably could have stayed here had they wanted. They chose to return to China where they are treated with respect by their government which accepts their responsibility to work for the country's and the citizens' best interests, unlike our government.
competition is important. Patent is ridiculous. The inventor of wheel did not patent his/her invention, because it was always there. Western countries monopolize their markets by patents, which is completely opposite of what they preach
This is Not a Gan Bei / Cheer for China... But you have to understand what the Great Leap Forward by Mao did to China.. The History Of Any Country w/ a lot of talent, & that has been dormant for any length of Time... They Are Ready for a Renaissance... & China is a By Any Means Necessary.. I guess that's how they get their Inventions.. Being Hungry to Win.. There is a lot of Opportunity to Make Mistakes w/ 1.4 Billion... Love Self, Protect Life, Peace..!!!
I wonder when the Taiwanese business people will finally wake up that they really are Chinese business people and should join with the other Chinese businesses
What would we expect getting economic advice or ideas from someone who bankrupted his own casinos....6 times.... And used a garage sale to finance his campaign? Absolute failure.
2:36 So those guys got something to learn from China I guess >.>
That Necessity being the mother of invention line didn't quite work so well for them then >.>
This view on Trump’s tariffs are short sighted. The US relies too much on Chinese imports. Tariffs help the America by bringing back American manufacturing, creating more jobs here, producing better quality products.
trump has no idea how tariff real work. The people who give trump information about tariff, should taken to the nearer tree.? You tax other country, what makes you think the price they sell will go up.
The prophecy of Islamic prophet was right at the end of the times, there will be leader among the dumb while the smart ones will be despised/persecuted.
fusion is dream thats evaded every one you can create fusion its really about the amount of power you put in and the power you get back and no one yet has achieved a positive result and they have been trying this since the early sixties so dont hold your breath
The stable genious will totaly destroy the us. And smile while doing it.
The fact D trump thinks he is smarter than everyone else is outrageously funny.
Wow, that comment from Open Ai was the most arrogant reply I've heard. No wonder elon musk doesn't like this guy. I look forward to AI being normalized.
Great assesment f the current geopolitcal situation and the emerging realities of world trade that the USA administration has failed to come to terms for decades with USA thinking it holds all the answers displaying a arrogance and contempt to other emerging economies potential to produce items and advancement in tech breakouts. that has left the USA lagging behind .Ignore the challengers at your own peril.
American still try to figure out their pronounce and protest in the street for their LGBT while china already completed their next 6th gen. fighter jet.
How can someone who doesn't know what a Tariff is be president of a country ?
Did anyone see Trumps interview with Cramer where he kept using the words "Current" and "Concurrent" as if they were the same word ? LMFAO !!!
Rubio idea of multipolarity is to maintain US imperial hegemony, Rubio is talking about keeping US's position as the only dominant force in the world, that's very different from BRICS countries idea of multipolarity which is about equality between countries, whether big or small, everyone in equal terms!!
We have to listen carefully what Rubio really means, don't be fooled by his context!!
For how many more years are we going to have to painfully elaborate over and over how dumb the American political and economic system is right now? How long do we have to wait for the turn around, for the arrogance to subside and the people rise up against the plutocracy? I may not live that long it seems. But thanks for trying to speed up the process, your voice and others like you can make a real difference, eventually, maybe.
We Got this - The Art of the Deal - how about letting the adults handle the negotiations
The American People Trust our President Trump to clean up this WOKE mess and MAGA-A
Tariffs are taxes on the country that places them no one can reduce taxes buy increasing taxes its actuly real simple thae only way to avoide Tariff taxation is to avoid buying any product with a Tariff 90 % of all products in America are for out of country and have Tariff on them
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't tariffs supposed to be basically deterrents that governments impose on their own country, to encourage businesses to make/ build/ create on their own what they are currently bringing in from other countries the tariffs typically reference?
If that's the case, even if the tariffs pay out long term, the resources and manpower required to bridge that gap of demand and supply is only going become more and more demanding.
Is my understanding correct?
I’m sorry but what a gross ad read. “Don’t want to pay your taxes? Don’t want to contribute to the country you were born to or those that you make money off? Want to help legitimise the talking points of the ultra wealthy so they pay no tax either way? Well our sponsor can help you use loopholes in various countries solely to get out of having to share your income to those pesky poor people”
Tattif policies are wrong... President should place more programs for Grants and easy loans for Small Businesses and Manufacturers and provide free energy and secure raw matrtial and resources to make sustainable industrial future in America, without these actions American will see high rate of Inflation and layoffs. After all Multi Billionaire can move their business and shift their assests rapidly to growing markets around the globe.
The mouth from USA is another young kid who has not grown up yet, That stupid comment will be something he will regret his whole life... Maybe he will learn a lesson in arrogance from it.
Worried about the United States Dollar it's paper money people have in their business everyone can see the dollar in their hands. War only with Paper Dollars up against the Ai internet money . What's going to happen ?
Bros talking about the past just to get the relevant title, good video bro but why post it with a misleading title and try to use it to attack your political leader? I'm not American so I don't fully understand but he won by an overwhelming amount shouldn't that say to you maybe we ahould let him try?
Trump is making China GROWSadly not many countries understand that only lower tax make people work harder, ie Hong Kong and Singapore. Whereas welfare countries ie Canada and Australia scared business away!
Tariffs are a negotiation tool for Trump. Pure and simple. The govt has been asleep for the past 4 years. I’m excited for Trump 2.0. Trim down the govt, shut the border, cut foreign aid, drill harder than ever, build back the military. See you in a year or two.
If trump tariffs don't work then why china has to retaliate? why not just ignore trump and his tariffs? lol
you are telling me that you know more than the teams upon teams of strategists, political, economic and financial advisors that trump has at his disposal?
I'm guessing that comment from. Sam altman was before China dropped their Ai and caused the Trillion dollar crash for the American tech industry. This comment is mean but I truly mean it.I hope Sam altmans tect company lost billions in the tec crash,to humble him and deflate his enormous ego.Telling that Indian man that they basically couldn't be smart enough to build a open Ai company and build something and be able to compete against his tect company was rude and disrespectful. China did it with 6million.This really must have had altman eating a huge slice of Humble pie.
Bro to do with pcbs and microchips the majority comes from Taiwan. China chips are extremely low quality it's an issue with the silicone they use during productions. China is suffering due to this that's why they targeted Taiwan those few years ago and it's only gotten worse since then. Why do you think graphics cards went from 2k down to $300 because lower quality materials are being used in those certain products that come from chiinaaa
There is some very objectively false misinformation in this video. I do not believe it's on purpose, but just out of ignorance. 1. Deepseek is good, but it is not better than OpenAI, at all. OpenAI already had better models,.and released two that are way ahead of deepseek r1. 2. Deepaeek R1 WAS NOT FUNDED BY 6 MILLION DOLLARS. This line alone makes me question the validity of the entire video. That is how much it cost to train their R1 model. They have invested billions in hardware already. Saying they e spent 6 million on deepseek r1 is as silly as saying your car only cost you 3k qnd ig oring the 60k loan you took out. Its absurd. Deepseek is fantastic because of several things, but not for any of the reasons stated in this video.
Altman is absolutely right in saying you're not going to compete for 10 million. It's simply not possible. You need a lot of hardware and all the comapnies are competing for that hardware at extreme prices.
Okay. I ran across this channel. I listened to it, all 16 minutes. I get the feeling that you are pretty much anti Trump and pro-China across the board from what I can hear? In that case, why would it seeming upset you when he, supposedly snubbed Tawain at his inauguration in lieu of the Chinese delegates?
This ain't 2016, 9 years has passed and people learnt how to deal with the nutcase. People who only care about money is easier to deal with than people who care about their country.
Make a better AI tool, that a good thing. Track, steal the customer's data...thats not right doesn't matter the vompany or nation. Stop stealing peoples data.
American arrogance Have a look at who the top 10% of students graduating from US ivy league universities over the past 40 years were, by country of birth. They returned home to China, India and elsewhere, to drive the innovation and stunning economic growth witnessed over the past 30 years. You ain't seen nothing yet. ^_*
Its amazing how people like this guy appear only now. Where was he in the rotten liberal democrats era, to make capitalistic remarks like his doing now.
This is a recent affectation yet the arrogance has had fertile ground to percolate, the future is not in Wash DC lets be clear the brain power is democratized
3:19 From my understanding of it is, what you are saying is true, but it’s not the whole picture. If I decide to buy from china I’m pay more, but if I buy from the US I won’t. Also with the introduction of the ERS eliminating income tax I’ll have even more money to spend, save, or invest. It hurts in the beginning but only in the beginning. Is my understanding wrong?
I'm sorry, but you have to be INCREDIBLY naive to simply swallow a Chinese claim of a 3600-fold "productivity boost" in the steel industry. I think it's time I dumped this channel in the ignore bin because the critical insight just isn't there.
Your looking into the surface , and what is being told . if your going to share information about critical economic and technological developments by countries there has to be a more detailed conversation about your theory on China superiority. And actually take the time and do research. This video was a waist of time
"One goal in mind: stop China's rise". Wrong, your first sentence. That may have been a desired outcome but the prime motivating factor, as he explained often, was to boost American domestic manufacturing, which was beginning to happen when he got turfed out in 2021. The same goal exists today. This will reduce American emphasis on Finance and Intelligence manipulations overseas which is a good thing for the whole world.
