Yes, America is trying to contain China but not for that reason alone. America is concerned about the rise of corporate China. As more and more Chinese companies are on the rise and have become a major players in the global economy, it's gradually taking markets shares from corporate America. American companies are losing it's Chinese and non-Chinese customers worldwide buying more Chinese brands like Huawei, BYD, Xiaomi, VIVO, Alibaba etc.
It's all about money and profit, and American companies love the 1.4billion Chinese customers buying American brands all over China, but they hate the competition whether it be domestic or foreign.
A thief assumes everybody else is a thief in the same way that a serial killer assumes everyone else is also serial killer.
This is the USA and the Anglo-European mindset. Their culture and historical roots has been based upon conquest and colonizing of others, despite their primary religion - Christianity - that tries to teach them not to do it.
China has a completely different culture and philosophy under Buddhism and Confucianism that teaches violence is the last course of action to be taken by any civilised scholar while the first person to use violence is an uncivilized barbarian - and this philosophy has been inculcated into the very social psyche of the people.
Thus is why "the East is East and the West is West and ne'er shall the twain meet".
Yanis is right. He is ahead of a lot of intellectuals when it comes to economics and geo politics. He does not make predictions he tells us the history and present situations that are happening. We need you Yanis. You are loved , valued and appreciated.
Well, in the past I'll find it difficult to believe this kind of competition thing, BUT after I heard what the US did to Japan's semiconductor industry in the past, then I realized this kind of thing can happen
This whole thing can be summarized in two words: paranoia and projection.
Paranoia, because America fears China's potential.
Projection, because America thinks China will emulate America in the future.
Let me add a third word: ignorance.
America does not understand China's culture, China's history, and China's ambitions. China has never been colonialist; it has never colonized distant lands like the Europeans and Americans did.
Instead, China sought trade with distant lands. That's what the Ancient Silk Road was all about.
China sought protection from barbarian invaders. That's what the Great Wall was all about.
China sought diplomatic respect and stability in the East Asian region. That's what the tributary system was all about.
Even when China sent a massive fleet of 300 ships (the largest in the world) all the way to the East coast of Africa, it was all about diplomacy.
No colonization. No conquest. No extraction of resources.
Just trade.
He forgot to mention the fourth reason for NAT0 expansion. It is to keep the MIC corporations engaged with manufacturing more weapons to make money for their shareholders.
The U.S. is an electoral plutocracy that continues Western Settler hegemony by any means necessary! This trend has been the reality of Western History since the Judaism was integrated into Greco-Roman culture. The problem that emerges is that prior to 1500 and presently most of the civilized world existed outside of the West! Military dominance is being challenged by a world majority that needs and wants peaceful co-existence! China has shown that “best practices” is the best governance model! “Defensive Realism “ has been endemic to Chinese Civilization since the first unification of China more than 2000 years ago! China has proven that co-existence is best for peace and prosperity!
For all!! China has never espoused hegemony as it is wasteful and self defeating! Cultural significance is established through peaceful trade and cultural growth. Civilization can not grow amidst death and destruction! The U.S. will eventually accept multi- polarity. But it first must taste the bitterness of defeat!!
It is a Godfather's insecurity game.... Godfather doesn't want any potential force to challenge its racket. WAR IS A RACKET. No other warrior is not allowed.
Downfall of Empires which never last in history always shows the reasons behind it all. It wasn't about winning wars or conquering or colonizing others or destroying other less capable defenceless lands and countries. It isn't just in past Chinese long history of more than 5000 years but also in every other continent where Empires are born and fell. And the symptoms of decay and downfall are slow to see and anticipate as the rulers (Leaders and politicians) and court staff (political parties, govt., institutions, medias, giant corporations etc) live in a different world of their own making forgetting that it wasn't even them which sustained and make an Empire great. As this make believe illusion of Superpower and immense Wealth continue while the very foundation, (people) are left to rot and fend for their own survival, it will eventually lead to rebellions, civil wars, riots etc. It then weakens the Empire and defences against invaders and was always a matter of time before everything collapses. Of course, the speed and rate of a downfall is speeded up due to natural disasters, civil disturbances within, drying up of coffers, extreme greed and power struggle within and poor governance.
Just remember it was and is always about good governance and leadership, moralities, culture, education, innovations, trade, peace, people unity, harmonius relationships, strong defence etc which determines the lifetime of any Empire (whether in decades, centuries or millenias). There is or was never an Empire which ever lasted more than one or a few centuries when the basic attributes decay and continue solely based on ideologies, religion, race, tribes, military power, wealth and illusions propagated by those lusting after Power and Wealth at the top of the food chain.
I am reminded of one of my teachers from long ago whose demeaning comment to one of his less thoughtful students: "Sir, you are an apostle of the obvious." But a rational observer must begin the conversation in an attempt to slow our headlong rush to open conflict with China.
Denial is wearing a face-mask. What is evitable is evitable and what is inevitable, inevitable. There are times in global politics when words cannot suffice to enunciate reality. This is a classic scenario. Denial cannot be spoken to until it smirks at itself in its mirror.
What's worse are the Brazilians who fall into this trap with the discourse of fear of "communism". No one here tries to understand even the slightest bit of what goes on behind the scenes.
They will fail in that endeavour.
America needs to remember that they lost the Vietnam War, thanks to its support from a back then, economically-poor, militarily-weak China.
Direct conflict with nuclear-armed, close-peer rival China in this era, would be a massively different affair. It would expose the United States mainland population centres to direct nuclear retaliation. Any such conflict could not be contained to the immediate region, as a consequence of China's nuclear armed submarines. The whole notion of a direct military confrontation with China, is now an insane proposition.
China's rise will continue, regardless of Americ's best efforts to undermine and derail it.

China's rise as a Superpower will continue, regardless of America's best efforts to undermine and derail it. It's GDP is now larger than America's, and is projected to become twice as large by 2050.
America is going to have to get used to being Number 2.
fully agree.
1st NATO-General-Secretary (Hastings Ismay, 1. Baron Ismay) pointed out the sole purpose of NATO (DE down, US in, RU out). Except the expansion of NATO I do not see what could have changed so far. All the same stupid stuff since 1952.
Yanis brings the facts to the point. Unfortunately He is (delibartely in mainstream) misunderstood.
Containment with china is unnecessary, in fact show your courage to compete with China in all aspects should you have gut to do do or just kept your MAGA for yourself at home, nobody wants and admire it neither. Build barriers along border yourself, not to contact outside world thats great is all about in u.s.a.
Old story. Since ancient times every foreign powers want to contain China. No one able. Not now. Not in the future. FYI in perspective, Islam is the only religion that mention about Chinese education. When a religion mention it, it means significant. Don't underestimate the chinese.
Does anyone think the Chinese admin of this video clip will quietly delete my comment underneath? (4/12/2024 around 1-2pm) like they do that anywhere with any comments they do not like? Or make it inaccessible to readers?
Yannis, welcome to the Chinese universe! Hope you will always enjoy it!
Really ! What's new here ? Lots of waffle here from Yanis. He should concentrate on the economy in his home country which has never been great when politicians with some very loose socialist ideas runs the show !
Of course US does not like the competition from China and other Asian countries. It makes life harder for them and the main question is if they really are up for the challenge?
You can choose any middle name for Yannis. Yannis ''China Loudspeaker'' Varoufakis, Yannis ''Anti-American'' Varoufakis, Yannis ''China can do this, because USA do that'' Varoufakis,
Yannis ''China is the world's providence'' Varoufakis, etc ...
!!I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 185K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% per year in dividend returns. any good stock recommendation on great performing stocks will be appreciated..
Anyone here from Shenzhen? Went shopping today and there were hardly shoppers around especially on a Friday. Even restaurants were rather empty during lunch time.
