Read the AOW last summer. The quote that always sticks with me is "Let you plans be as dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt."
Congratulations on your very good pronunciation of Chinese, names and places. It’s very refreshing. I’ve suffered through so many butcherings of it I’ve lost count.
“Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the comment sections fate.”
- Sun Tzu
Sun Zi Bing Fa is a very extraordinary ancient Chinese book that tells us how to win a battle more easily even though we are in trouble. There's another important thing that Sun Zi Bing Fa also provides us with useful advice on facing and dealing with difficulties at work.
The Art of Wart, Sun Tzu, the philosophy provides a lot of teaching or wisdom:
If you know the enemy and yourself, you should not fear the outcome of hundreds battles.
Prudence with creativity and firmness with patience.
The wise man always wins because he does not compete.
The Art of Wart reaches to win without fighting, the importance of knowing yourself, to have clarity where you have your feet, or clarity of the situation, problems etc. the importance of creativity. The most important is to know yourself.
Okay People’s Profiles yes I am very interested in the history of Sun Tzu but now I really think it’s time you do a documentary on Walt Disney, Balto or Gunnar Kaasen or something else even more unexpected please? I think you’re an amazing historian and I enjoy all of your videos. It’s just that in this time of serious politics people need to STOP talking about politics and look to more important things like history.
While there may be debate as to whether Sun Tzu actually existed, his principles of war laid out in The Art of War are the fundamentals for warfare. While technology & weaponry may advance, sometimes by leaps & bounds, the basic tenets of conducting warfare do not change. The means may change, but the ends do not, and will not, change. The question of Sun Tzu's existence should not detract from the overall value of The Art of War.

For those saying that sun tzu's srt of war is common sense, russia campaign in ukraine, especially in the first few months, did the exact opposite of what the art of war advised.
Interesting video but according to the narrator it’s all speculation. There’s really no evidence sun tzu was real or just a fictional character created to summarize military strategy
So this is historical context, but what of the military context. Well, Ho Chi Min, communist leader of North Vietnam followed The Art Of War down to the letter and it worked out extraordinarily
well for him, defeating American forces who had superior weaponry. Im interested in the actual treatise.
One of the most famous ancient tactician who never actually involved in any battle/war. In other words, a world famous table top general who is studied by so many. He was indeed a brilliant tactician who achieved his fame not fighting a single war/battle. If that is not an art of war, what is?
Thank you for a very well-informed documentary. However, it would have been nice if the narrator spoke some Chinese and had a more accurate pronunciation of the characters and locations.
It’s suntshi (chuzo) the swo sh on not SHUN (those are the 25-35 academy between the year they QIAN 440 century with the Monks merchant). Sun Bin shrine furnace helped the moon lights
Why don't you make a video about comparison/application of Sun Tzu strategy at work against the American financial hegemony without firing a single bullet today!?
I rather rely on the art of war exercised by Ghengiz Khan, Kubilai Khan, Subutai, Alexander the Great, Timur Lenk, Alpaslan Khan, Atila Khan, Seljuq Khan, Osman Pasha and others who kicked ass around the known world and founded empires
The Art of War is a nice book for the popular reader.
As a true guide for warfare it is little use, IMO.
It does NOT address logistics -- which is the heart of warfare.
Also, modern war is dictated by war material production.
Sun Tzu says nothing about this.
I love trump. I watch the enemy’s channels to know what they are saying , what they are telling their people or their planning. Know your enemy.
And they say I only watch FOX .
People who don't know Chinese and classical Chinese can't understand this book at all. It doesn't mean this when it is translated into English. Only by knowing Chinese and Confucian literature can you understand oriental literature.
