Russia doesn't get enough hate honestly. The invasion of Ukraine shouldn't be surprised given Russia's history. What is unique about Russian imperialism is their usage of ethnic replacement. Other empires did it as well but Russia brought this to a whole new level. One important point that wasn't mentioned is that, in 1900, during the Boxer rebellion, Russia saw an opportunity. It forcibly killed or expelled all Chinese people in Outer Manchuria. In one city, all of the Chinese people were told to either cross the Amur river to the Chinese side or be killed. Most of them drowned. In WWII, the Soviet Union began as the aggressor, invading the Baltics and Finland. They were betrayed by Germany and for this, the Soviet Union ethnically replaced the Germans in Eastern Germany with Polish people who were also forcibly removed from Eastern Poland to be replaced with Ukrainians and Russians. Not only did the USSR side with Germany but it also ethnically replaced native Poles. In 1945, it also stole native Japanese islands and ethnically replaced the Japanese people there with Russians. Then, it proceeded to do what was said in the video. It's also important that Korea had been one unified and unchanged country for 700+ years, even staying united under the Japanese Empire. Suddenly, when the Soviet Union came, it did irreparable damage to a country that had survived for millennia. Almost all of Russia's neighbours hate it for one reason or another. Japan hates it for taking its Northern territory. South Korea hates it for splitting entire families and turning half their country into a dystopia, China hates it for taking Outer Manchuria, Finland hates it for the Winter War, the Baltics hates it for their invasion and 50 year long occupation, Poland hates it for WWII and Ukraine hates it for killing thousands of people as we speak and for the Holodomor. One key point to note is the Northern Territories appear as Russian on Google Maps. On China's Baidu (their version of Google Maps), they appear as Japanese. You would expect them to support Russia's claim against Japan but they don't, they support Japan. The truth is nobody likes Russia and nobody wants to be Russia's neighbour. After WWII, the UN was founded and the principle that the fate of land was to be decided by its people was established. So, Russia bent the rules and ethnically replaced people so they could be seen as the new locals. Finland, Ukraine, China, Japan, Germany, Poland and even a small section of North Korea would all fail under international law to reclaim their lands because Russia kicked the native populations out and replaced them with Russians loyal to the government

The most egregious part of this Russian landgrab in 1860 was purposely shutting off Manchuria from the Sea of Japan. Russia wanted access to Korea and therefore carved out a 15 km strip adjacent to Korea preventing China's Manchuria from accessing the Pacific Ocean. This must be rectified in the future.

The Treaty of Aigun and the Convention of Peking that ceded these vast tracts of territories are Unequal Treaties. The PRC renounced all Unequal Treaties with the exception of the two treaties because the PRC started out as a puppet of the Soviet Union. Once the PRC is overthrown, as it inevitably will given a long enough time scale, the successor Chinese state will take those territories back.
