Of course the people doing this are delutional since it has been admitted that the F-35 does not have adequate range. That means that Ameican ships cannot get within many hundreds of km of China, and I have heard that it is 1600. That means that the First Island Chain north of Philippines could not be supplies including Okinawa. the reason for relocationg to Gaum and its islands. Also means that amphibious ships will be on the ocean floor long before they get anywhere close to China. Most of the simulations of battle between US and China result in US losing badly. If cut off China trade then cut off all trade with Japan and Korea so they have to go way around the first island chain, maybe also around Australia. Indonesia is not friendly to the US so it is going to be real difficult to contain China through the region. Singapore also is becoming more neutral with a lean towards China. I'm willing to bet everything I own, they will never dare set foot in the mainland soil unless they had prepared for the nuke war, which I highly doubt. Ground combat in Taiwan and Philippines is still possible though.
